Partner Tech offers an extensive selection of Point of Sales (POS) terminals and peripherals designed exclusively for the Retail, Supermarket, Hospitality, Quick Service and Banking industries.  With over 100 million store days of experience in hardware and software support, Partner Tech consistently delivers world-class quality systems.

With the release of their PT-6200 All In One terminal their objective was to secure a niche slot in the Electronic Point of Sale (EPoS) market.  What Partner Tech needed was a suitable application which could compliment their hardware and exploit the functionality of its unique design.

Our challenge was to deliver a low-cost/no-cost, highly functional, out-of-the-box Electronic Point of Sale (EPoS) solution for the PT-6200.

Some time ago we came across a promising open source Electronic Point of Sale (EPoS) application called Tina/Libre POS when looking for a solution for one of our clients in Europe.  We kept an eye on its progress and in the last few years the Tina/Libre POS project became Openbravo POS and evolved into a very usable, mature and robust Point Of Sale application. Still open source, and with almost 10,000 downloads per month (according to Openbravo web site), we chose to use it as the basis of our enhanced solution for the PT-6200.

We were presented with three challenges though and needed to re-jig Openbravo POS to accommodate the compact configuration of the PT-6200;

1. Re-design to run on a screen resolution of 800x600pixel
2. Re-develop the uniCenta oPOS Cashdrawer kicker via the on-board PT-6200 port
3. Extend the COM ports range available on the PT-6200

With these tasks completed we went even further (we just couldn't help ourselves...) and tweaked localization, the in-built reporting, database and a few other bits too.

uniCenta oPOS is born.
