work in progress...
Mobility. Accessibility. Practicability.
Mobile external/off-site application enabled workforces are common and Parcel delivery companies are a prime example of this. Yet, in our experience, very little attention is given over to solving operational effectivenes of internally mobile staff. Some time ago during a leisure project our client asked us if we could find a way to help reduce the distance serving staff had to walk from table-to-kitchen with their orders. We introduced handheld ordering, but we couldn't help noticing that many other staff were constantly on the move, often away from their desk, accessible only via their mobile phone and always had to get back to their PC to action emails, complete tasks and the like... mmmm... something wrong here we thought and one day we're going to fix this.
PDA's have evolved/devolved (depends on your point-of-view) into tablets; slates; palm-held & etc., and some now are durable, cost-effective to own and ideally suited to the day-to-day bashing they're going to get. Time to do what we thought about those few years ago; imagine something like the ruggedised(IP54) Partner Tech OT-100 (above) capable of simultaneously running an On Device App'(ODA) such as uniCenta oPOS; making and receiving phone calls via 3CX; and handling email from an Exchange Mail Server.
Successful integration of
Windows Mobile enabled devices i.e: Phones/PDA's with
our client's communication applications.
Increase staff operational effectivenenss by combining
Line of Business applications and communications needs
into a compact device capable of withstanding day-to-day
handling.
